As y'all know, Nathaniel and I love polar bears.  I love children, and Nathaniel loves swimming.  We found the perfect combination of those interests in Chicago's Polar Bear Plunge: http://www.chicagopolarplunge.org/site3.aspx

So on Sunday, Nathaniel will be jumping into Lake Michigan in order to raise money for the Special Olympics!  It's not ACTUALLY frozen right now, although there are icebergs in the water.  If you'd like to donate, you can do so here: http://www.active.com/donate/chiplunge/tyedie .  Please note that the event is THIS WEEKEND, so you don't have too long to dawdle :)

If we raise $500, I've agreed to go out in a bikini and take pictures, but either way, there will be pictures.

Not only am I still alive, I am quite fine.    Law school is very intense, but I am working hard and even having some fun.

My first exam is a week from tomorrow, and exams end on December 21.

Nathaniel and I will be in Florida for Christmas, from 22 - 27 December.  We don't yet have definite New Year's plans.

You can catch me on GTalk at almost all times, and I welcome any and all distractions from studying - my gmail address is krista.michelle

It is very cold, but I just ordered almost 200 dollars' worth of silk long underwear, so I imagine I'll survive the winter :)

We will probably not be sending out Christmas cards this year, so don't take it personally.

Leave a comment and tell me how you are :)

I've never before seen snow filtering down through the summer green of a canopy of trees, with only a few leaves having started to change colors.  Very pretty, but ... wait, did I just say SNOW?  Yup.  It was supposed to flurry today, but this is the kind of snow that would shut down a North Carolina town for at least a day.

I'm pretty sure snow before Halloween is against my religion.  Into what have I gotten myself??

Class is good.  N is in Pittsburgh.  Pittsburgh folks should hang out with him.

Norton is not entirely sure he LIKES swimming in Lake Michigan, but he will do a lot for a sufficient quantity of treats.

More pictorial evidence that I survived my first week of law school classes over on Flickr.

Happy birthday, [info]tyedie!  I know we're not taking a fabulous trip to Alaska this year, but I hope we'll have a wonderful celebration all the same :)

Local folks - we are headed to the Murray Ave Eat and Park for chocolate milkshakes at the moment of his birth in an hour or so (1:08 AM, 4 July).  If you see this before then, join us!

Happy 1st anniversary to my wonderful [info]tyedie.  Thank you for your love and support this past year.  I can't wait to move to a new city and have new adventures with you.  Onwards and upwards!

I got a lovely dress watch (very lawyerlike) for my present, and gave Nathaniel a photo album of our Alaskan honeymoon (Shutterfly = highly recommended).  Last night we went on the Gateway Clipper Dinner Dance cruise, and now we're off to hike and swim in Ohiopyle.  Yay!

These two videos are quite possibly the funniest things I've seen on the internet this year.

El Nino : Like all things Spanish, it is dangerous!

Cancer : Don't be panic!  is the words that doctor always says to patients who is recieving cancer.

That's all I have for you.  Make sure your audio is on before clicking.  You can thank me later.

(I wish I had photocopied the best term paper I ever got. "King Tut lived in a pyramid.  He helped make Egypt the world power it is today.")

Some things for you to read, if you would like:

1) My new knitting blog, in conjuction with the lovely ChiaLea, can be found here.

2)  It is important to teach our children that "Occasional assistance may be all right, but too much will lessen a man’s confidence or even turn him away from his princess."  That, and other selections from federally-funded school abstinence programs.

3)  What is conservatism, and what is wrong with it?

4)  You start with one little wager, but the next thing you know, you've got a real gambling problem.

5)  Quite long, but focus, please, on section V.  "It means believing that religion involves concern for the poor and the needy, and giving a fair shake to all. When people talk about God and yet ignore justice, it just feels downright wrong to us. When they cloak themselves in religion and forget mercy, it strikes us as blasphemy."

6)  Let me present you with all of that, and then some advice about how to stop worrying.

20 lines from songs that came up when I put all the music on my computer on shuffle.  (I was going to do the first 20 songs, but some of them were really really easy [although I left at least one really easy one in], and some were instrumental. I also skipped the ones in foreign languages, and eliminated artist repetitions.)  First one to guess title and artist for each wins, hmm, a prize.

    A bit random, anyway... )

The last few days of honeymoon pictures are up on Flickr.
They are all of Vancouver, at the end of the cruise, rather than of Alaska.

Next, a photo tour of Pittsburgh.

Again, they're in reverse order, starting with the Alaska state capital, and the open ocean one is the last day of the cruise.
